Riverfield Lodge offers excellent self catering facilities in a peaceful rural setting just outside the town of Athboy, County Meath. We are situated on the main bus route to Dublin, approximately 60 kilometres from Dublin Airport, making us an ideal base from which to explore the heritage sites of the Boyne Valley, such as Newgrange, Loughcrew and Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre. Guests at Riverfield Lodge can expect a warm and welcoming Irish experience with the hosts living in the adjacent main house. There are two contemporary styled en-suite bedrooms,one with disabled bathroom facilities, A full kitchen/diner, laundry facilities and cloakroom. There is an extra bedroom/lounge (sofa bed) upstairs also with a full bathroom. WiFi is freely available and dogs are welcome, with prior agreement. The heritage towns of Trim and Kells are close by with Trim Castle, where the Mel Gibson epic movie Braveheart was filmed, the Yellow Steeple, the High Cross of Kells all being popular local attractions, Our local town of Athboy boasts the neolithic quadrillavate ringfort at Tlachtga/Hill of Ward with recent excavations uncovering more of our ancient past. The Adventure Centre at Loughcrew appeals to the more adventurous while Tayto Park in Ashbourne, a fun park for families is easily accessible from here.The Causey Farm and Summer Camp just five kilometres away is another great family attraction. There are many fine golf courses nearby and swimming/ leisure facilities at Trim and Navan. Dublin city is within easy reach with its popular tourist destinations of Trinity College, the Guinness Storehouse and many other attractions as well as great shopping. Many guests make a day trip to The Giants Causeway and to The Titanic Museum in Belfast from our location as well as trips to County Wicklow, with its famous Glendalough and Powerscourt Estate etc. There are great tours from Dublin such as The Game of Thrones Tour to Northern Ireland.
